- About Sports Massage Therapist | London N21 | Lorna Hetherington Massage
Lorna's extensive experience in sports & remedial massage has been gained working alongside top physiotherapists over the past 15 years. She also treated international athletes at London 2012 Paralympics. Find out how she can help ease pain & tension, perform better in sport and generally feel better in your body. About Me I believe what sets me apart from other therapists is my understanding of sporting injuries and medical conditions and how best to aid rehabilitation from these. This has been gained by more than 18 years working and training alongside experienced physiotherapists at Sprint Physiotherapy , a highly regarded clinic in Kensington, treating many clients pre/post operatively and in conjunction with their physiotherapy treatment. Whilst I take on board latest research and evidence and apply it in my approach, I am also an intuitive therapist and 'listen to what my fingers tell me' to help ease pain and restriction in the body. I find the human body fascinating and get tremendous satisfaction from helping my clients feel better. I originally qualified with my diploma at the renowned London School of Sports Massage (LSSM) in 2006 and undertake additional postgraduate courses every year to further my training and deepen my knowledge of the human body. I was also fortunate enough to be selected to provide pre/post event massage in the Polyclinic at London 2012 Paralympics. An amazing experience that exposed me to athletes from all over the world in events from judo to wheelchair basketball, weightlifting to long jump. Prior to retraining as a massage therapist I worked in the stressful world of marketing and advertising, so fully understand the physical and mental pressures of being deskbound for many hours every day. I work from my home massage studio in Palmers Green, N13 covering the local areas of Winchmore Hill, Grange Park, N21, Southgate, Oakwood, N14, Bounds Green and Enfield, as well as offering home visits in these areas. I am fully insured and a member of the Institute of Sports & Remedial Massage . My philosophy Massage is not a luxury, it is essential to maintain your mental & physical well-being.
- Sports & Remedial Massage | N13 London | Lorna Hetherington Massage
Sports & Remedial massage therapy offered by Lorna Hetherington in Palmers Green, N13 London. Sports & Remedial Massage Ease your muscles I originally trained in sports and remedial massage, but I am essentially a soft tissue therapist dealing with issues related to the muscles, tendons and fascia within the body. I use a variety of techniques, including myofascial release, soft tissue release, muscle energy technique, positional release technique and trigger point release, alongside more traditional effleurage and stretches to relieve tension in muscles and promote freedom of movement. I may also use medical acupuncture and spinal mobilisation or manipulation if required to achieve the best result. If your aches and pains are from poor posture, sitting at a desk all day, or just getting older and dealing with other health issues, then a regular massage will ease the niggling pains and help you move more comfortably. It is also hugely beneficial after surgery and I have many years of experience dealing with reducing swelling and improving range of motion post-operatively for knee replacements and ligament repairs such as ACL/MCL reconstructions, hip replacements, shoulder surgeries (rotator cuff repairs, shoulder replacement) and back operations. For those who play sport regularly or are training for an event, a sports massage can help minimise injuries, improve your recovery times and help keep you in optimum condition. I have successfully treated many marathon runners, triathletes, cyclists, golfers, tennis players and footballers, but also have experience of other sports such as shooting, horse-riding, climbing and ballet. I was also selected to provide massage to international athletes at the London 2012 Paralympics and have provided pre/post event massage at both the British Triathlon and the London Bike Ride. Many of my clients see me for specific issues; anything from neck pain to tight hamstrings or shoulder problems, but I will often treat other related areas as well. The body is an integrated whole and everything is ultimately connected, so releasing restrictions in another area can have surprising effects on the main problem. I am a highly skilled soft tissue therapist and adjust pressure to the requirements and preference of each client. I incorporate breath work to help you relax during treatment and achieve the best results possible. See my reviews page for a selection of testimonials from my clients or to see my Google reviews.
